Overgrown - Skull 05 - Face Down in the Dirt

One of a series entitled "Overgrown". The original idea did not include the roots of the "tree". Such is the way things go when you let the art tell you what to do. To me it now seems almost as if the beauty of the tree and its roots has infested the skull, into the brain. As if it has become a spreading cancer of dark and beautiful. Face down in the dirt. v

Inking with Flash, Lesson 1

I made a couple of videos for those of you out there that might want to learn how to use Flash for your vector drawings. It's a great way to get a cool comic style of line while keeping the file in vector format. I hope it helps you out.

This was fun to draw and ink. Going with my Naked Lunch inspired fascination of bugs and psychedelia while focusing on horror and the macabre I whipped up this little doozy. I'm not really sure what else to say about this one. I'd like to think it speaks for itself but somehow I know that many people will get different ideas from it. And that's ok. That's part of what makes art yours. You bring some of yourself to the image. I provide a vehicle, you get in and drive.

Ninth in the "13 Days of Horror" series. I do one drawing every day from October 19 through the 31st. No real preplanned idea other than the genre of Horror and the Macabre.

Just a drawing I did. I'm having fun with the psychedelic style right now. This is ink on bristol. 9" x 9". Not sure how long it took, but probably about 6 hours.

Illustration Friday: Scale

My submission for IllustrationFriday.com, the topic is "Scale". I had several ideas that came to mind when I first read the word "scale". This seemed to bring a lot of those ideas together. Not only do we have the scale as a device for weighing things but we also have the scale of the universe. A scale that shows us how tiny we might be. A scale that might show us that in such a large universe there are things everywhere that are worried about their weight...even in zero gravity. But then again, in the "grand scale" of things, maybe none of that really matters....
